McIntosh apple trees are moderate growers with a mature height of about 15 feet. They can be kept to about 8’ in height with summer pruning. and require cross-pollination from a different apple variety that blooms at the same time (mid-season, bloom group 3) to produce fruit. Plant a compatible partner—such as Honeycrisp, Cortland, Golden Delicious, or a crabapple—within 50–100 feet. They are pollinated by bees in spring.
